carla hollett
steve had a birthday awhile back, and his niece carla came through with the little charcoal/pencil sketch of johnny ramone (pictured below) as a precursor/study to a painting she was gonna do for him as a present. a few months later the finished work showed up at the house....i was fucking awestruck. basically 3 colors, this 36" x 36" painting of johnny now hangs in our living room. her talent, combined with one of my favorite subjects (raw ass rock n' roll) makes for, in my opinion, a beautiful high/low brow masterpiece. she probably wouldn't claim it as her strongest work...but i haven't seen all of her stuff yet....
